Girl Time

It's spring break for exactly 2 weeks, and I am cramming all the fun and relaxation (with a little cleaning) into it. I was so excited I was able to spend some time with my mom. For me that’s the best vacation time ever, my mom and I talk about everything, we get latte's and just relax, shop, play with the dogs, and ultimately unwind ourselves from life and all the boys... for me Paul, and for her Dad, Jimmi, and Andy. Don't get me wrong they are all amazing and we love them but sometimes a girl just needs girl time!

Our last visit I was able to go out to the barn and meet her new pony Ally, I say pony because she is only 14 hands! I can't believe it I don't remember that last time I could see over the back of a horse, I'm so use to 17 hand warmbloods. Ally is so cute and seriously the star of the barn, everyone we met asked if we were the owners of the cute black pony. Ally is a little diva and she knows it! I can't wait to get back out to the barn I am so excited I might even be taking lessons again!

Here are some pictures of our adventure and the beautiful Ally...

Spring has sprung!

I just wanted to share some photo's from our La Conner adventure today to visit the daffadil fields. I can't wait to go back when the tulips are in bloom for the Tulip Festival!

Rattlesnake Ridge

Paul and I were able to get outside today we went on a hike at Rattlesnake Ridge, which is near Northbend, Washington. I have to say this trail has become my new favorite place it is absolutely beautiful! I just can’t get over the lookout at the top, which looks out over Rattlesnake Lake. The glacier blue water of the lake in contrast with the lush green forest and hazy blue mountains is breathtaking. I have to admit I have issues with heights, not so much that I am afraid, but more like I feel like I can't get my balance. It was ok though Paul was there and helped me walk steadily on the cliff (it was so high up and very steep) Overall the hike was pretty easy and so SO worth it!

Like I said this is my new favorite spot! And I have great artsy/creative plans for it in the near future… stay tuned ;)

March Twenty-First

Six years ago today I had a coffee date with my future husband...

I cannot believe that it has been that long it really seems like just yesterday I was moving away to college, let alone getting married and in a few months celebrating our third wedding anniversary. Paul is by far the best thing that has ever happend to me in this crazy life of mine.

When I first started dating Paul it was approaching summertime in 2008, it was the happiest time of my life. I really learned what it is to be in love. How do I know this? well, I am speculating but here are a few reasons. First, Paul was sick at least three major times in the first six months that we dated. He #1 broke his foot, so he couldn't walk, #2 had to have a minor surgery for another unrelated reason and also couldn't walk again, and #3 got exstremly ill with a crazy bad fever. All of this took place within our first six months of dating and you know what? I didn't care, I just wanted to be with him no matter what. We both remember that summer as being the best summer of our entire lives, it was so much fun even though so many traumatic things happend. For me, I moved away from my family's horse farm where I grew up. I remember packing my yellow bug to the brim with everthing I could and walking into the kitchen in our house and telling my mom I was leaving. I will never forget it! but Paul somehow gave me the little bit of courage I needed to make that step. Even though it hurt, and even though I dreaded the day I would leave the farm.

We always said that if we could survive that summer and remember it as fondly as we do, that we could survive anything together, and I truely belive that! I am so blessed to have Paul in my life he is such a great person inside and out. I view marraige as a gift and Paul as being a part of my life as a privilage and I am just so thankful everyday that such an amazing person has ended up as such a large part of my life.

Bohemian Dress Theme

I have an outdoor event in May, and I am looking for a romantic, long, flowy dress for the occasion (more on that later). I really love designing outfits and this one is really fun! The theme is forest bohemian so some words for direction are...
Forest
Bohemian
Feather
Rock
Glow
Earthy
Flowy

Here are some of the dresses I am considering. If you have any suggestions feel free to comment!

An Education in You

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
Scott Adams

What grad school has taught me these last two years is to know myself. I view school differently from most people. It is not necessarily the text you read that is what goes with you when you graduate, but rather what you learn about yourself. I have learned so much! I have learned my coping techniques, my conflict style, my management style, I have learned fields I am interested and definitely not interested in. I have learned the type of situations in work, family, and life that are good for me, bad for me, and positively-challenging. Anyone who views grad school as just a means to another degree on paper is not seeing the big picture. I know I am very introverted, I love to write (thank God for this blog), I'm a lot ADD and I NEED creative outlets whatever that may be (I have to CREATE!), as well as maintain an ever-changing life landscape, I can never feel trapped, contained, or stagnant. I learned that I have a wonderful marriage full of love and laughter and the world’s most supportive husband. I can only hope that all of this knowledge about myself will mean that I will be able to contribute at my fullest potential to this world and ultimately make it a more beautiful place for everyone.

P.S. I also learned that although I am a dog person at heart... cats are good too, enjoy our little Miller family pics.

Fitz And The Tantrums - The Walker [Official Music Video]

Another new song I found, and love... I'm sensing some sort of whisteling trend lately in music...
